EcoAir® VpCI®-414 Cleaner & Degreaser – 13 oz Aerosol (12 Cans/Case)

Description

EcoAir® VpCI®-414 is Cortec’s VpCI-414 water-based cleaner and degreaser in a non-flammable compressed-air can. It clings to ceilings, vertical surfaces and hard-to-reach areas, lifts dirt, grease and oil from steel, iron, copper, brass and chrome, and leaves a short-term corrosion-inhibiting film behind. Twelve 13 oz (369 g) cans per case.

The can is the maintenance-cart format of the VpCI-414 family. It handles the jobs a dip tank does not reach: degreasing a gearbox housing in place, cleaning a machine enclosure ceiling, spot-stripping a patch of VpCI-368 or VpCI-389 on a part that missed the wash line, or cleaning fasteners and mating faces before assembly. EcoAir cans are air-powered: the formulation sits in a four-layer bag inside a can pressurized with air, so no propellant contaminates the product, the can sprays in any direction including upside down, and it ships by air freight without the storage or fire-insurance restrictions on solvent aerosols. How to apply EcoAir VpCI-414

1. Shake the can well and spray directly onto the surface from a few inches away, holding the can at whatever angle the job needs.
2. Let it work. Leave the cleaner on the surface for a few minutes; the product clings, so it stays put on vertical and overhead surfaces. On temporary coatings allow a longer soak to soften the film.
3. Wipe or rinse. Wipe away soil with a cloth or brush, or rinse with water. Rinse before the product dries where the part goes on to paint or plating.
4. Dry and protect. Air dry. The residual film gives a few days to a few weeks of indoor flash-rust protection; for longer storage follow with a VpCI rust preventative or VpCI packaging.
5. Storage. Store at room temperature. The contents are water-based, so do not let the cans freeze.

Where it fits in the Cortec line

EcoAir VpCI-414 is the aerosol arm of the VpCI-414 concentrate; move to the 5-gallon pail or 55-gallon drum once you are cleaning parts by the basket or stripping coatings on a schedule. Field notes

An axial-compressor spare blade carrier in Kazakhstan rusted in an unprotected wooden crate outdoors. It was de-rusted with EcoAir VpCI-423, cleaned and neutralized with EcoAir VpCI-414, given a final clean with ElectriCorr VpCI-239 and wrapped in VpCI-126 HP UV with EcoPouches inside, ready for two years of outdoor crate storage. An LNG compressor rotor in Kazakhstan, rusted after two months in a poorly sealed container, was de-rusted with EcoAir VpCI-423, neutralized with EcoAir VpCI-414, given a final clean with ElectriCorr VpCI-239 and coated with CorShield VpCI-369, with EcoPouches at one per m³ (35.3 ft³) as backup to the nitrogen blanket. Weekly nitrogen checks were no longer needed. (Cortec Case History #843)

An excavator-gearbox parts washer in India ran a competitor’s cleaner at 5 to 6% and 65 to 70 °C with a 30 to 45 day sump life and still left oil on the parts. VpCI-414 at 0.5% at the same temperature, with no process change, cleaned better at a tenth of the concentration with no oil carryover and a 90-day sump life. (Cortec Case History #676)
