VCI Papers — Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor Paper for Metal Protection
VCI papers (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor papers) are specialty corrosion protection sheets that release microscopic VCI vapors when enclosed with metal parts, forming an invisible molecular layer that inhibits rust and oxidation without oils, greases, or coatings. These papers are ideal for wrapping, lining, and separating metal components during storage, work-in-process handling, or export shipping, and they work especially well in packaging systems where surface contact protection is needed without mess or residue.
VCI papers are commonly used together with VCI bags and films or as an internal layer inside cartons and containers to enhance corrosion protection coverage. They are highly effective following part cleaning with aqueous parts washers or solvent parts washers, protecting cleaned surfaces from flash rust and oxidation.

Cortec VpCI-146 VCI Paper — Wrap Parts, Stop Rust
VCI paper is the workhorse of corrosion protection for machined and stamped parts: wrap the part or interleave sheets between layers, and the VpCI-146 coating protects every metal surface it encloses. We stock Cortec VpCI-146 multimetal kraft paper in 30#, 35#, and 60# weights — sheets and rolls — for everything from small components to heavy castings.
VpCI-146 protects ferrous and non-ferrous metals — steel, cast iron, aluminum, copper, brass — and replaces greasy rust preventative oils entirely. Parts stay clean and dry, ready for immediate use, assembly, or inspection with no degreasing step. The paper is fully recyclable and repulpable, so it also replaces plastic where sustainability requirements apply.
When to use paper vs. bags: paper excels for interleaving stacked parts, wrapping individual components, and lining bins and totes; use VCI bags and film when you need a sealed moisture barrier for long-term storage or export shipping — or combine both for maximum protection.
