Description
EcoSpray™ VpCI®-416 is Cortec’s heavy-duty alkaline cleaner and degreaser in a 16 fl oz (0.5 L) pump-spray bottle, twelve bottles to a carton. It removes heavy deposits such as hydrocarbons, grease, drawing and buffing compounds and machinery compounds from machinery, sheet metal and other metal parts, and it leaves the same multi-metal flash-rust protection as bulk VpCI-416, up to six months in indoor storage.
The pump bottle is the point-of-use format for the VpCI-416 line: a bottle on every maintenance cart and at every inspection bench for cleaning a machine surface, degreasing a fixture, or wiping down parts that will sit before the next operation. It is also the recommended neutralizer for spot rust removal: after EcoClean 423 gel or EcoAir VpCI-422 has lifted the rust and been rinsed off, a spray of EcoSpray 416 stops the fresh steel flash rusting. EcoSpray bottles contain no aerosol propellant, CFCs or HCFCs, no 1,1,1-trichloroethane, methylene chloride or chlorinated solvents; the product is non-flammable, carries no storage or fire-insurance restrictions, and ships by air freight or any conventional method. How to apply EcoSpray VpCI-416
- Spray the surface until wet from a few inches away. The product is ready to use; do not dilute.
- Let it work for a few minutes on heavy grease or compound, then agitate with a brush or cloth if needed.
- Wipe or rinse. Wipe clean or rinse with water. Where the part goes on to paint or plating, rinse before the product dries.
- Neutralizing after rust removal. Rinse the derusted part with water, spray with EcoSpray 416, and let it air dry on a clean surface; the transparent dry film prevents flash rust.
- Dry and protect. Air dry. Protection runs up to six months indoors; for longer or outdoor storage follow with a VpCI rust preventative or VpCI packaging.
- Storage. Store like any non-aerosol cleaner at room temperature. Do not let the product freeze.
Where it fits in the Cortec line
EcoSpray VpCI-416 is the hand-spray arm of the VpCI-416 concentrate; move to the 5-gallon pail once you are cleaning by the basket or need to charge a tank. Its natural partners are EcoClean 423 rust remover gel and EcoAir VpCI-422, which it neutralizes, and EcoAir VpCI-414 when the soil is a wax or temporary coating rather than grease. Field notes
Corroded internal parts of a process dryer in St. Paul, Minnesota were cleaned in place: descaler in 125 gallons of water run two hours, drained and rinsed, then VpCI-416 pumped in and run one hour, drained and air-dried, leaving clean parts with long-term protection. (Cortec Case History #051)
A coastal heavy-equipment dealer in Indonesia had fuel tanks rusting on nearly every stored machine. Tanks are de-rusted inside with VpCI-423, rinsed with 10% VpCI-416, flushed with diesel and dosed with VpCI-705 Bio in the fuel; no more grinding, and the method was adopted across tank types.
