Blasting & Cleaning Equipment for Shipyards
Marine work is a corrosion fight that never ends. Salt air, immersion, dissimilar metals and long layup periods mean surface prep and corrosion control aren’t finishing steps — they’re the whole job.
Surface prep, in the yard and on the hull
Portable pressure blast pots in 3.5, 6.5 and 10 cu ft capacities bring the blast to the work — hulls, tanks, decks and structures that will never fit in a cabinet. Remote deadman control and double-control setups are available for two-operator work.
Shop-side blasting and plate prep
Fabrication shops running plate and structural steel need continuous-pass blast machines that descale and profile beams and plate to spec before welding or coating. Full blast rooms with reverse-pulse cartridge dust collection handle the big components — sized to your room volume, up to 50,000 CFM.
Component cleaning
Pumps, valves, heat exchangers and engine parts coming out of a vessel are greasy and salt-contaminated. Aqueous parts washers clean them without adding solvent to a confined-space environment.
Corrosion protection for layup, stores and transit
MilCorr VpCI shrink film was built for exactly this — wrapping equipment for outdoor storage and ocean transit with vapor-phase corrosion protection inside the wrap. Cortec VpCI emitters protect enclosed spaces like control cabinets and machinery spaces.
