Every wheel that comes into a wheel & brake shop arrives the same way: coated in carbon brake dust, runway grime, and hydraulic film — and every one has to be clean before NDT inspection can even begin. Hand-scrubbing wheels is slow, inconsistent, and hard on techs. A purpose-built wheel washer turns that bottleneck into a fast, automated cycle.

Solvent Recycling Systems supplies Magido aqueous wheel washing systems — including the large-capacity Magido L-212, configured with front and rear guillotine doors for pass-through loading. Multiple Magido wheel washers, including the L-212, are installed and running at aerospace MRO operations across the country.

Why aqueous, why purpose-built

Carbon dust containment. Brake dust belongs in the machine’s filtration, not in your shop air or on your techs. An enclosed aqueous cycle captures it.

Gentle on wheel halves, hard on grime. Water-based chemistry at controlled temperature and pressure cleans aluminum wheel halves without aggressive solvents.

Consistent, documented cycles. PLC-controlled wash/rinse means every wheel gets the same cycle — the kind of repeatability quality systems like.

Sized for aviation wheels. The L-212 platform carries a 59″ × 59″ turntable rated to roughly 1,540 lbs standard (expandable toward 5,000 lbs), with a wash pump moving ~145 GPM — capacity for center hubs and wheel halves at production volume, rated at up to 5 basket cycles per hour.

Pass-through workflow. The wheel-shop configuration adds front AND rear guillotine doors: dirty hubs load from one side, clean hubs exit the other. The washer sits in the flow of the shop instead of at the end of a dead-end aisle — no double-handling, and a natural dirty-side/clean-side separation that quality auditors like.

In service now

Multiple Magido wheel washing systems — including the L-212 — are installed and running today at aerospace MRO operations across the country, cleaning aircraft wheel and brake components as part of daily production.

What a cycle looks like

  1. Center hubs load through the front guillotine door onto the 59″ turntable
  2. Heated aqueous wash — ~145 GPM at spray pressure, up to ~158°F, Incoloy-heated 164-gal wash tank
  3. Dedicated rinse stage from a separate 114-gal rinse tank (~92 GPM)
  4. Rear guillotine door opens — hubs exit on the clean side, ready for inspection
