Thermic Oil for Solvent Recyclers
Thermic oil — also called thermal oil — is the heat-transfer fluid that circulates through the heating jacket of an electric-heated solvent recycler. It carries heat from the electric heating elements to the distillation chamber so solvent reaches a controlled, even distillation temperature without a direct flame or hot surface touching the chamber wall.

Changing thermic oil often?
Thermic oil should be changed at least every 2,000 hours — most distillation faults trace back to oil that’s overdue, and recovery drops until it’s replaced. Stay on schedule to protect your recovery rate. If an older unit keeps faulting even with fresh oil, a newer recycler may pay for itself in months.

What’s the difference between thermic oil and the solvent being recycled?
They never mix. Thermic oil stays sealed inside the heating jacket and only transfers heat through the chamber wall. The solvent being distilled is a completely separate, contained system.
How often should I change my thermic oil?
At least every 2,000 hours of operation. Running on old oil is a common cause of distillation faults and dropping recovery rates.
Is thermic oil the same as thermal oil?

What happens if I run my recycler on old or low thermic oil?
