Follow the part through the plant
1. After heading and threading — oil and fines
Parts come off the header and roller carrying forming oil and metal fines, packed into threads, recesses and drive features. Washing them one basket at a time does not keep up with production, and parts that nest together shield each other from the spray.
What we supply: rotary drum parts washers that tumble bulk parts through wash, rinse and dry so every surface is reached, conveyor washers for continuous flow, and spray cabinet washers for batches and larger parts. For blind holes and fine threads, see ultrasonic washers.
2. Before heat treat or plating — clean and dry
Oil left on a fastener burns on in the furnace and interferes with plating and coating. Water left from washing leaves spots and stains. Parts need to go to the next process both clean and dry.

3. In the bin, the box and the truck — rust
Plain-finish and black oxide fasteners have little protection of their own. A keg that picks up rust in storage or in transit is a rejected lot. Cortec VpCI vapor phase corrosion inhibitors protect the parts inside closed packaging without a heavy oil the customer has to deal with.
