Every metal part gets cleaned at least once before it ships, and every clean part starts rusting the moment it is bare. Solvent Recycling Systems supplies the equipment for both problems to machine shops, metal fabricators and general manufacturers.

Follow the part through the plant
1. After machining or forming — oil, coolant and chips
Parts leave the machine carrying cutting oil, coolant and fines. They have to come off before welding, coating, heat treating, inspection or assembly.
What we supply: aqueous parts washers from manual sinks to automatic spray cabinets and conveyor systems, solvent parts washers, and ultrasonic washers for blind holes and fine detail. Lines include Build-All, built in Milwaukee, and Magido stainless steel washers. Heat treaters, see parts washing for heat treating.
2. After welding or before coating — scale and surface profile
Weld scale, mill scale and rust have to come off, and coatings need a consistent profile to bond to.
What we supply: blast cabinets, blast rooms and automated blasting systems.
3. In storage and in transit — rust
Washed or blasted steel has no protection. Parts waiting for the next operation, sitting in inventory or riding in a truck can rust before the customer opens the box, and a rusted part is a rejected part.
What we supply: Cortec VpCI rust prevention: rinse additives and liquid rust preventatives, VpCI films, bags and papers for packaging, and emitters for enclosed spaces. The VpCI product selection guide matches products to metals and conditions.
4. Wherever solvent is used — the waste drum
If you use solvent for cleaning or for paint cleanup, most of what goes out in the waste drum is still usable. A batch recycler recovers it on site.
What we supply: solvent recyclers and recycler bags. Shops with a paint booth, see paint booths and finishing lines.
Washing and rust prevention belong together
The most common call we get after a washer goes in is about flash rust. Planning the rust preventative at the same time as the washer — in the rinse stage, in the packaging, or both — costs little and avoids cleaning parts twice.

It helps to know the parts and materials, the soils, your volume per shift, the largest part you handle, and what happens to the part after cleaning.
