Kresco SWC Series Solvent Glove Box Washer – Class I Div. 1 Explosion-Proof Cabinet

The Kresco SWC™ Series is one of the few enclosed cabinet washers built to spray-clean parts with solvent instead of just water. The solvent version is entirely stainless steel with Class I Div. 1 explosion-proof lighting, fume extraction and controls, so shops can get high-pressure solvent cleaning inside a sealed glove box safely and to code. Available in 11 sizes (SWC2836 through SWC7272).

Description

Most glove box-style parts washers are aqueous-only — atomizing solvent inside an enclosed cabinet is considered too dangerous for standard electrical components. The Kresco SWC™ Series breaks that rule safely. Built entirely of stainless steel and fitted with Class I Division 1 explosion-proof components (lighting, impeller and control panel), the SWC Series solvent version lets you spray-clean parts with solvent inside a sealed, enclosed cabinet — something most glove box washers on the market simply can’t do.

Engineered for Hazardous-Location Solvent Cleaning

  • Class I Div. 1 explosion-proof components throughout, including the LED lighting system, solvent fume extraction impeller, and control panel — rated for hazardous locations where atomized solvent vapor is present
  • 1/2 HP motorized solvent fume extraction continuously evacuates hazardous vapors from the cabinet during operation
  • Door safety interlock switch automatically interrupts the cleaning cycle the instant a door is opened
  • All-stainless-steel cabinet and recirculating tank construction, built to hold up against solvent exposure
  • Sealed cabinet design with glove ports keeps solvent and fumes contained — operator cleans through built-in nitrile/neoprene/butadyl gloves while watching through a large Lexan view window with replaceable shields

The result: OSHA, NFPA and cQPSus code-compliant solvent spray cleaning in a footprint and workflow that, until now, has mostly been reserved for aqueous glove box washers.

Common Applications

  • Degreasing and cleaning parts, tools and machinery components
  • Surface cleaning of manufactured parts prior to coating or painting
  • Restoring engines and mechanical parts of vehicles
  • Maintenance of aircraft components
  • Cleaning mining and wastewater pumps for rebuild
  • Cleaning flexo/litho printing plates and components

Key Features

  • Recirculating Tank — stainless-steel tank on wheels, available in 15, 20, 30 and 45-gallon fluid capacity
  • Pump-Powered Process — choice of low-pressure and high-pressure pumps for the cleaning tool
  • Flow Regulator — regulates fluid flow through cleaning tools
  • Ergonomic Controls — valves and cleaning tool controls mounted on the front leg for easy access
  • Large View Window — Lexan window with easily replaceable shields
  • Inline filtration traps circulating debris so cleaning fluid can be reused cycle after cycle

Standard Equipment

  • Protective gloves (nitrile, neoprene or butadyl)
  • Flow-thru brush and spray gun with a wide array of available spray patterns (splash, multiple streams, flat, hollow cone, full cone, square)
  • Air blow gun
  • Perforated UHMW polyethylene work shelf — 500 lb standard load capacity (higher capacities available on request)

Choice of Fluid Pumps

Pump Type Working Pressure
High-Pressure Pneumatic Pump 100 to 3,000 PSI
Low-Pressure Diaphragm Pump 30 to 100 PSI

Optional Features

  • Front Guillotine Door — pneumatic front-opening door provides complete access to the work surface and enables features like a retractable shelf
  • Rotating Table — increases operator productivity and reduces stress from manipulating parts
  • Retractable Shelf — retractable, tiltable shelf for more ergonomic loading and unloading
  • Window Clean-Off Nozzles — air-knife technology keeps the view window clear for better visibility inside the cabinet

Code Compliance

Kresco parts washer cabinets and their pre-engineered features are approved and compliant to code for industrial and commercial use in both Canada and the United States. The solvent version’s electrical components comply with Class I Div. 1 Hazardous Locations Standards. Compliant with OSHA and NFPA guidelines, and cQPSus Certified.

Why Choose Solvent Recycling Systems

Running a solvent-based cabinet washer means managing spent solvent. Pair your SWC Series cabinet with one of our batch solvent recyclers to reclaim and reuse mineral spirits or other cleaning solvent on-site instead of paying for disposal and fresh solvent. Freshly cleaned bare metal parts are also vulnerable to flash rust — ask us about pairing this washer with Cortec VCI corrosion protection to keep parts rust-free between cleaning and their next process step.
