Description
VpCI®-705 is a triple-function fuel additive: corrosion inhibitor, fuel stabilizer and water emulsifier in one. Dosed at 0.1 to 0.15 % into gasoline, diesel, gasohol or alcohol fuel it protects the tank, lines, pump and upper cylinder in the liquid, interface and vapor phases, and it does not attack rubber gaskets or plastics. The 5-gallon pail treats roughly 3,300 to 5,000 gallons of fuel.
Stored fuel separates water, the water sits at the tank bottom and the interface, and the vapor space above the fuel rusts. VpCI-705 emulsifies the free water so it burns off, stabilizes the fuel against degradation in storage, and puts a vapor-phase inhibitor into the head space. It protects aluminum, die-cast alloys, zinc, tinplate, copper, ferrous alloys, cast iron and solder, and can be fed continuously or added intermittently. Cortec also fogs the concentrate into empty tanks for storage and shipment. It carries a General Motors approval (GM part number 10661800) and EPA identification number 1733-0002 and in the Cortec Product Consultation Guide is rated 5, immersion service, on all eight listed metals.

How to apply VpCI-705
- In-use fuel tanks. Add VpCI-705 to the fuel at the blending facility, the storage tank or directly to the equipment tank at 0.1 to 0.15 % by volume of the tank, about 13 to 19 fl oz per 100 gallons of fuel. Refuelling mixes it.

Fog VpCI-705 concentrate into the tank at 1.5 oz per 10 gallons of tank volume, covering as much internal surface as possible, and close the tank.
- Equipment. Spray at full strength with conventional equipment such as Graco Delta Spray or LT series guns or the Graco Finex #289258. Wet film is generally under 1 mil (25 µm) and coverage is about 770 to 790 ft² per gallon (18 to 19 m²/L).
- Gas lines and liquid gas tanks. Inject at the rates in the table; treatment can be continuous or intermittent.
- Drying and removal. None. The film stays in the fuel system and burns with the fuel; a fogged tank is simply filled and put into service.
- Storage. Keep sealed.
Where it fits in the Cortec line
VpCI-705 is the fuel-side product. Field notes
A U.S. Air Force base in Japan preserved about 20 million dollars’ worth of airfield damage-repair vehicles parked in an open field: VpCI-415 pressure wash, VpCI-369 D on hinges, ElectriCorr VpCI-239 on electricals, VpCI-105 and VpCI-111 emitters in cabs and fuse boxes, VpCI-391 in engine compartments, VpCI-386 CMA over the paint and VpCI-705 in the fuel. A state-owned deepwater drilling contractor in Vietnam cold-stacked a rig with a full treatment schedule: VpCI-326 and VpCI-329 at 20% and M-531 at 5% in gearboxes, mud pumps and engines; VpCI-705 at 100 ppm in fuel; VpCI-649 BD at 0.5% in fresh-water systems; and VpCI-308 and VpCI-609 fogged into empty tanks and pipelines. A coastal heavy-equipment dealer in Indonesia had fuel tanks rusting on nearly every stored machine. Tanks are de-rusted inside with VpCI-423, rinsed with 10% VpCI-416, flushed with diesel and dosed with VpCI-705 Bio in the fuel; no more grinding, and the method was adopted across tank types.
