Description
VpCI® Protected tape is printed packing tape marked “Cortec VpCI® Protected”, supplied 36 rolls to a carton: it seals the carton and tells everyone downstream that the contents are under VCI protection and should stay sealed. A VpCI package works only while it stays closed; a carton taped with plain tape gets opened at receiving, at customs and in the stockroom. Printed tape carries the message along every seam, so it cannot be missed the way a single label can.
The tape is an accessory to Cortec’s packaging line rather than a VCI product, so it carries no metals list or consultation-guide rating. It closes cartons and liners of VpCI-126 bagged parts, folds on EcoWeave covers and VpCI-146-lined boxes, and the outer carton of any export pack. Each roll is 2″ × 330′, the standard carton-sealer size, and runs in a hand dispenser or case sealer like any packing tape.
Typical applications
- Sealing cartons of VpCI-126 bagged parts
- Closing VpCI-126 gusseted liners and EcoWeave covers
- Export packaging and ocean-container shipments
- Spare-parts cartons and MRO stock
- Warehouse and receiving instructions: do not open until needed
- Returnable containers and racks of VCI-packed WIP
How to use VpCI Protected tape
- Close the inner package first. Seal the VpCI-126 bag or fold the liner over the load, then close the carton or cover.
- Tape every seam. Run the tape along the carton seams and over the folds of a liner or EcoWeave cover, pressing it onto clean, dry film or board; use it to hold a folded bag mouth flat against a pallet load.
- Keep tape off the metal. Tape goes on packaging, not on the part; VpCI cannot protect metal under an adhesive.
- Add a label and a date. Put a VpCI Protected label on at least two faces and write the pack date so the package is inspected or renewed within its protection period.
- Store. Keep rolls in their original carton, indoors at ambient temperature.
Where it fits in the Cortec line
Use the tape with VpCI Protected labels; the two together mark a package unmistakably. It closes VpCI-126 gusseted liners, cartons of VpCI-126 bags, EcoWeave covers and VpCI-146-lined boxes. For sealing shrink-film seams on MilCorr, use 3M white shrink tape instead; this tape is for cartons and liners. See the VpCI product selection guide for the rest of the packaging line.
