Step 1 — Clean the part
Aqueous parts washing uses heated water and detergent to lift oils, chips, and grime. An aqueous parts washer paired with the right cleaner or degreaser gets parts genuinely clean — but that’s also exactly what makes them vulnerable. Stripping away cutting oils removes the very film that was holding rust off. A freshly washed steel part with no protection can flash-rust in minutes.
Step 2 — Protect the part immediately

The right product depends on what happens next. Parts moving to the next operation in-house need only short-term in-process protection — a light liquid RP.
