EcoAir Interior Fogging Corrosion Inhibitor – 13 oz (12-Pack) (Cortec® EcoAir® 337)

$164.00

A compressed-air can with a delayed-release actuator — set it going, close the crate, and it fogs the interior by itself. No chemical propellant: the EcoAir line uses a four-layer pouch inside a can pressurised with air.

Description

EcoAir® VpCI®-337 is Cortec’s waterborne fogging inhibitor in a compressed-air can with a locking release valve: lock it open, close the crate or cabinet, and it fogs the interior by itself. There is no chemical propellant. The EcoAir line fills the product into a four-layer pouch inside a can pressurized with plain air, so it is non-flammable, sprays in any direction including upside down, and carries no storage or fire-insurance restrictions.

It solves the small-enclosure problem that drums of VpCI-337 do not: a packout line, a control cabinet or a single export crate that needs vapor-phase protection without spray equipment. The chemistry is VpCI-337, a multi-metal inhibitor that leaves a thin self-healing film that does not affect paintability, conductivity or appearance and needs no removal. In the Cortec Product Consultation Guide EcoAir VpCI-337 is rated 1, enclosed, on carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, galvanized steel, copper, brass and solder: it is meant for sealed packages, housings and containers, not open storage.

Typical applications

  • Interior of crates and shipping boxes
  • Shipping containers
  • Enclosed void spaces
  • Fogging during packout
  • Electrical and control cabinets closed for storage
  • Small tanks, housings and gearbox casings that cannot be reached with spray equipment
  • Field touch-up of a fogged system after a hatch or cap is opened

How to apply EcoAir VpCI-337

  1. Prepare. Contents should be clean and dry (SSPC-SP-1). Shake the can.
  2. Dose. VpCI-337 fogs at 0.5 to 1 fl oz per cubic foot of void, so one 13 oz can covers roughly 13 to 26 cubic feet of sealed enclosure, about a 2 × 2 × 3 ft crate. Use more cans, spaced out, for larger volumes.
  3. Fog. Stand the can inside the enclosure, lock the release valve open, close and seal the lid or door. The can dispenses on its own; there is no need to hold the trigger or stay inside.
  4. Drying. No cure step. The mist settles into a thin, tack-free, non-toxic film and the vapor phase fills the space. Keep the enclosure sealed; protection lasts up to two years as for VpCI-337 when water is kept out.
  5. Removal. None needed; parts are ready to use or paint.
  6. Storage. Store cans at room temperature and keep from freezing; the product is water-based. EcoAir cans can ship by air freight.

Where it fits in the Cortec line

For pipe runs, tanks and turbines use bulk VpCI-337 with spray equipment. For crates that ship without any fogging step, VpCI-308 pouches (35 ft³ each), Cor-Pak 1-MUL pouches (1 ft³) or VpCI-101 emitters do the same job passively, and VpCI-126 bags add a VCI barrier. The companion aerosol for coating exposed surfaces is EcoAir VpCI-377. Browse the full Cortec VpCI line.

Field notes

An Oklahoma and Texas surplus pipeline-valve dealer stores inventory from weeks to years, including 30 to 42 inch trunnion ball valves over 40,000 lb outdoors. Since late 2020 each valve gets a VpCI-105 or VpCI-111 emitter sized to its internal volume, EcoAir VpCI-337 sprayed on all internal surfaces, openings covered with VpCI-126 Blue, and the giants custom VpCI-126 HP UV bags. (Cortec Case History #762)

A Northeast U.S. aircraft-engine shop stopped exterior corrosion and staining in storage and shipping with a large VpCI-126 gusseted bag over the pallet framework, Desicorr NW VpCI pouches inside, and for hot, humid destinations a 3-second spray of VpCI-337 aerosol before sealing. No more oil on bare metal. (Cortec Case History #748)

A Canadian marine institute took a 100-gallon seawater pump and tank system out of service for several months: saltwater flushed out, the system fogged with EcoAir VpCI-337 and the openings capped. (Cortec Case History #761)
