How It Works
The most common cell pairs a motorized turntable with a 6-axis robot blaster, the two moving in synchronization so the nozzle follows the part geometry at constant stand-off. Robots can also handle the parts rather than the nozzle, and a broad range of CNC and servo axes can be added to suit the process. Every system is tailored to the customer’s parts and specifications and designed to integrate with the surrounding production line.
Three Ways to Program a Blast Sequence
- Import a CAD file. The fastest path if you own the design: import it to the robot software and set process parameters such as stand-off and travel speed.
- 3D scan the part. When no CAD model exists, a scanner reproduces the part accurately enough to program from.
- Teach the robot. The longest route but sometimes the simplest: walk the robot through each movement manually.
Once a sequence is saved it runs with the same reproducibility every time it is recalled.
Typical Applications
Controlled shot peening of aerospace, medical and firearms components; cosmetic finishing of machined parts with a repeatable, specification-grade result; high-volume repetitive parts where a cabinet operator is the bottleneck. PLC Control With HMI Touch Screen
Critical operations are automated through a PLC with a touch-screen HMI: a main screen for everyday parameters, an alarm screen with current and resolved alarm history, a password-protected manual screen for maintenance staff, and an integrated maintenance program with reminders.
Media Recovery: Tunable Cyclonic Separator
Every Kresco automated system ships with a stand-alone cyclonic separator. Centrifugal force pulls dust, paint chips, rust and fines out of the air stream and returns sound abrasive to a storage hopper sized to your production target; an adjustable air inlet tunes it to angular or spherical media of any material, mesh size or bulk density, and a large debris drawer catches the rest.
